EMF Challenge: How Close Before It Spikes?

A quick community experiment comparing a phone and an EMF meter so investigators can document the distance where a response begins under real-world conditions.

The Challenge

How close does a phone need to be before an EMF meter begins to respond?

This challenge is designed to help investigators move beyond assumptions and document what actually happens with their own equipment.

Record a short video, show the phone, show the meter, and show the distance where the response begins.

How To Test It

Place the phone in a stable position and begin with the EMF meter at a visible distance.

Slowly move the meter toward the phone, or move the phone toward the meter, while keeping the camera focused on both devices.

Call out or show the approximate distance where the meter first reacts, then repeat the test to see whether the result is consistent.

What To Document

Note the phone model if you are comfortable sharing it, whether the phone is idle or active, and whether Wi-Fi, cellular, Bluetooth, or airplane mode is being used.

Document the meter type, the starting distance, the response distance, and whether the response repeats under the same conditions.

The goal is not to win an argument. The goal is to gather useful comparison data from real investigators using real devices.

Why This Matters

Phones, tablets, and other electronics should not be treated as automatic contamination, but they are variables that need to be controlled.

Understanding how close a device must be before an EMF meter responds helps investigators interpret readings with more discipline.

Better data leads to better questions, and better questions raise the standard.
